Here is the link to the article that came from the TV interview that I did. I don't know when it will air or in which markets. (I linked this earlier and screwed up the link with something I had forwarded to someone from another site. I totally blame the pneumonia bronchitis.)
Please be kind to my chins. This is the first time they have been on tv and they are very expressive. Like jello when you push it.

Very good article! I liked the description of "fractured sense of self" and that the shopping addiction helps fill up the hole thus created. I think I have that too! I buy on a lesser scale, cost-wise as my budget is very limited, but I have been trying hard to control it as my addiction then puts pressure on those I love to help me out! I buy for my grandchildren - and their parents really don't want me to as their house is small and they don't want to bail me out - again. My daughter threatens to call "The Hoarders" TV show because of my piled up accumulations from garage sales, I am now trying to get this taken care of. I try to make others happy but my mess causes me grief when I disappoint them - there is no room for them to stay here if they want to visit!
Thank you for your article and good luck!

I'm also an attorney with a bunch of debt, though under $20k is not student loan related. Do you know what I found genuinely helped me? For things that I really love, like Thomas Pink shirts (oh the fit is so divine!!), I put it in my budget. Every year I'm allowed to buy one. I allow mini treats during the year too. So I love nail polish (seriously, it's sickening), and when I'm really trying to cut down, I allow myself to buy one full collection every three months. This helps me keep from overspending from stress. I dunno, maybe it'll help. Good luck to you!!
